Peacefully at Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy on Monday, July 8, 2013, Zelda Margaret (Sterling) Mayhew formerly of Glencoe passed away in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Edward Randall “Bud” Mayhew. Cherished mother of Patricia (Robert) McMillian, Allan (Linda) Mayhew and Kathryn (Ronald) Smulders. Dearly loved grandmother of Megan (Bill), Melissa (Mark), Christopher (Jen), Craig (Jennifer), Bradley (Lindsey) and Stephanie (Eric) and proud great grandmother of seven. Loving sister of Doriene Boyd and Madeline Bellamy and dear sister-in-law of Lillian Sterling and Pat Sterling. Predeceased by her brothers Max, Jack and Murray Sterling and sister-in-law Lorraine “Willy” Sterling. Zelda was a devoted and active member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Glencoe for over sixty years; receiving the Bishop’s Award for Excellence in Ministry in 2010 at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. She was a member and past president of Four Counties Hospital Auxiliary. In recognition of her years of dedicated service she received a Certificate of Life Membership to The Hospital Auxiliaries Association of Ontario during a reception in 2003 at the Royal York in Toronto. Relatives and friends will be received at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Friday, July 12 at 11 a.m. Rev. Kim Metelka officiating. Interment to follow at Oakland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. John’s Anglican Church or Strathmere Lodge Auxiliary
