Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia with her family by her side Mabel “Ruth” Leitch passed away on Monday, October 17 , 2022, in her 90th year. She was predeceased by her parents Charles “Winston” and Gertrude (Dodd) Sifton and her siblings Mary Parsons (2022) and Donald Sifton (1959). She leaves behind her five children, Beth (Jim) Lucan, Marilyn (Bob) Walsh, Ross (Cindy) Leitch, Dawn (Bill) McNally and Malcolm (Cheryl) Leitch. She will be missed by her grandchildren Jessica (Jake) Clark, Jennifer (Tony) Cruz, Jillian Lucan, Christopher Lucan , Jorhan Walsh, Arlan (Ariel) Walsh , Kelby (Eric) McNally, Kane Leitch, Dawn (Ed) Michrina, Brett (Nicole) McNally, Thera (Tyler) Wagner, Travis (Taylor) McNally, Jody Leitch, Kristin (Rick) Antolak and 27 great-grandchildren. Ruth fulfilled many roles in her lifetime: teacher, librarian, photographer, many volunteer positions and maybe best known as the Transcript and Free Press news reporter. If things were happening in her beloved Alvinston or area , she was there. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday October 25, 2022 at Inwood United Church, 3211 Inwood Road, Inwood at 12 noon. Visitation 1 hour prior. Inurnment will take place at Strathroy Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia or charity of your choice.
