Peacefully at his home in Glencoe, surrounded and cared for by those who loved him the most, on Thursday, January 7, 2021, J. Russel Simpson passed away in his 95thyear. Beloved husband of Ruth (nee Busteed) for nearly 72 years. Dear father of Stuart Simpson, Linda (Ron) Stewart, Jill (Barry) McFadden, Dale Simpson, Ray (Angela) Simpson, Holly Simpson and son-in -law Alton O’Neil. Predeceased by his daughter Louise and daughter-in-law Linda. Proud Grandpa to 22 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and many more honorary grandchildren. Survived by siblings Fern Simpson, Ruth Campbell, Fred Simpson and sister-in-law Mary Lou Tye. Also predeceased by his siblings Kelso, Max, Eileen Hayes, Ray, Donald, Doug, Beth Eskritt, Ivan, and sisters-in-law Dorothy Gardiner and Irene Lee. A private family service will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021 at the Van Heck Funeral Home in Glencoe with interment at Oakland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Glencoe Presbyterian Church, Four Counties Health Services, or the Glencoe Agricultural Society.
