Norman Joseph Triest passed away on Monday June 26, 2023 in his 81st year at Bluewater Health , Sarnia. He is survived by his beloved wife Pat (nee Racher) for 60 years, by his children Sheri (Wayne) Primeau, Joe (Amy) and Andy (Crystal). He was adored by his grandchildren Davis, Devin, Nicole (Craig), Megan (Shawn) and Jacob. Norm was so proud of his great-granddaughter Wren. He is also survived by our loved self-appointed grandchildren Lauren, Kaleigh and Riley, Myah, Noah and Dax. Predeceased by his parents Peter Triest and Sophia (nee St. Denis). He was a faithful and supportive brother to the late Genevieve, late Eleanor (Alex), Giselle (late John). Norm leaves behind his second family (since 1960) of Racher in-laws Jim (Audree), Connie, Barb (late John), Barb and Randy (Lori). Norm loved his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by Stanley and Shirley Racher. He will be missed by his local Community of Brooke-Alvinston that he supported and was a devoted chartered member of Alvinston District Optimist Club. He loved playing euchre at the Legion in his later years of life and socializing with his fellow farmers at the Co-op for coffee. He lived and died a proud farmer. Norm was a farmer his whole life starting with his father and continuing with his next 2 generations. Many lifelong friendships of families of Culloden S.S. #18 were important to him as were his neighbours and local athletic teams, the Jr. C Alvinston Flyers (2016), the Alvinston Aces Junior and Senior ball clubs and minor sports at BAICCC. He was a choir member for 71 years in the Alvinston Ecumenical Choir, St. Matthew’s Choir as well as St. Charles Choir. Visitation Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe. Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at St. Charles Garnier Catholic Church, 244 Stella Avenue, Glencoe on Thursday June 29 at 10 a.m. Private family interment to follow at St. Matthew’s Catholic Cemetery, Alvinston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alvinston District Optimist Club (BAICCC additions).
