Nona Fletcher

Peacefully and surrounded by her family, at home on Saturday, October 13, 2018, Nona Marie Fletcher of Appin passed away in her 81st year. Beloved wife of Hugh and loving mother of Sharon (Greg), Allan (Vicky), Beth (Tony) and Nancy (Rick). Proud grandmother of Megan and Ben Fletcher, Jack, Jordan and Katelynn Horvath, Grant and Heather Donkers. Predeceased by her parents, Clayton and Mathilda (Tillie) Wildfong, granddaughter Rachael Lynn Fletcher, brothers-in-law Jack Fletcher, Stan Gillies, and Mike Howlett and sister-in-law Phyllis Gillies. Fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law Dorinne Howlett and Elizabeth Fletcher, first cousins Bob (Donna), Doug (Carol) and Harold Hamather and their families. Also missed by many nephews, nieces and friends. Although family was her first love, her nursing career was her second love. Nona graduated as a registered nurse in 1960. After working five years at Victoria Hospital, London in the OR, she continued her career at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital where she helped deliver babies for over 30 years. Nona was an active participant in her community and a devoted member of the Appin Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school and working with the Busy Bees. Her strong faith in God guided her life and ultimately gave her peace. Relatives and friends will be received at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Appin Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, October 17 at 11 a.m. Rev. Amanda MacMillan officiating. Interment to follow at the Appin Cemetery. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in Nona’s honour may consider the Appin Presbyterian Church or Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation. We could not have travelled this long journey without the support of Dr. Perkin, nurse Stephanie from Para Med and the many caring PSW’s from VON. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and thanks to all the relatives and friends for their generosity and kindness.
