After a long courageous battle with cancer, Lorne Harold Thomas of Appin passed away at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 in his 74th year. Beloved husband of Lynne (Humphrey) for 53 years. Loving father of Kimberley, Kristina (Aaron) Fichter, and Michael. Proud “Grampa” to Justyce (Hailey), Rylan, Samantha, Madelyn, Aiden and Elliott. Also survived by his sister Shirley Cromwell and brother-in-law Bruce Findlater and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Ralph and Gladys Thomas, sisters, Kathryn Brethour and Erma Findlater and niece Peggy Findlater. Lorne was a Scout leader, baseball coach, Legion member and Oddfellow and belonged to many community organizations. He was a long-time resident of Appin, enjoyed fishing as well as being a Nascar and baseball fan. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe where the funeral service will be held on Saturday March 18 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Amanda MacMillan officiating, Interment to follow at the Appin Cemetery. Oddfellow service at the funeral home on Friday evening at 6:45 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or London Regional Cancer Program.
