It is with great sadness, to announce the passing of Laura Jean Henderson (nee Armstrong) of Alvinston on Monday, December 9, 2019 at Fiddick’s Nursing Home, Petrolia in her 91st year. Wife of the late Garth Henderson (2012) for 62 years. They were married in Forest on September 30, 1950 and moved to Alvinston in 1967. Jean was the 5th daughter of 7 girls of the late Gordon and Gladys (Miller) Armstrong. Mother of 2 sons, Michael (Marilyn) and the late Rodney (1982) and grandmother of Nicollette, Brittany (James) and Alex (Megan) and great grandmother of Ava, Isaac, twins Bernadine & Harvey and Hensley. Also survived by 2 sisters Donna Chrismann and Ellen Anderson. Especially missed by her loving niece Mary Anne Forrest and special friends Terry and Jack MacDonald who were like family to her. Predeceased by 4 sisters Edith, Marvel, Anna and Margaret, and her daughter-in-law Catherine (1999). Jean was a member of Hope United Church and a Life member of the Auxiliary to Branch 249, RCL Alvinston. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 3232 River Street. Alvinston. (Visitation one hour prior, from 1-2 p.m). Interment to follow at the Alvinston Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Canadian Red Cross or Alvinston Food Bank.
