Frank John Kucera of Alvinston passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia, on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the age of 81. Frank was born in Montreal, but at an early age, moved with his family to a farm in Brooke Township. He graduated high school and then studied in Toronto to earn his Class A Mechanic license. He joined his brother at Kucera Farm Supply, which recently celebrated 60 years in business. He served as a past member of the local volunteer fire department, and as Chief for a term, past Fair board member and President, and was a current chartered member of the Alvinston and District Optimist Club. In his retirement, he loved to farm, entertain friends and family, travel, and go fishing any chance he could. Dear husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (Hrynuik) for 23 years. Loving father of Dan (Susan), Dave (Cindy) and the late Doug (1983). Proud grandfather of Ryan (Aly) Kucera, Samantha (Chris) Freer, Kayla and Ashley Kucera, and great-granddaughter Grace Kucera. Frank is survived by his sister Jean Kucera Rose (Keith) and sister-in-law Helen Kucera. Predeceased by his parents Frank Sr. and Sabina Kucera and brother Steve. Fondly remembered by Brad Hrynuik, Beth (Tyler) Butler and families, his nieces and nephews, the Gray family, many friends and employees. Cremation has taken place. Friends and family will be received at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 3232 River Street, Alvinston on Wednesday, February 27th from 4-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at St. Charles Garnier Church, 244 Stella Street, Glencoe on Thursday February 28th at 11:00 a.m. Family interment St. Matthews Cemetery, Alvinston. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia or Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation.
