Peacefully on Wednesday, March 27th, 2019 at the age of 66, Douglas Robert Alexander Carruthers of Ekfrid Twp., passed away after a courageous battle with leukemia. Doug has left a hole in the hearts of his loving & devoted wife Chris of 39 years, his children Sean (Alysha) Carruthers, Erica (Adam) Parnell and his 2 beautiful grandchildren Adrianna & Nash. Doug will be greatly missed by his uncle Bob Coulthard (Jeanne) and aunt Ruth Coulthard, his brothers Ian (Carol) and David (Jacky) and his nieces and nephews. He will be remembered and cherished by his incredible community of friends & neighbours. Doug is predeceased by his father Christopher Carruthers (1979), mother Irene (Coulthard) Carruthers (2015) and twin sister Margaret (2011). Doug was a gentle soul who will be remembered by his hardworking, witty, humble, kind personality & sense of humour. Friends and family may visit at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes St., Glencoe on Sunday March 31st from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. where the funeral will be held on Monday, April 1st, 2019 at 11:00 am with Rev. Cheryl Bolton officiating. Doug’s family wishes to thank all the doctors & nurses for their exceptional care that he received during his hospital stays at LHSC-Victoria Campus and Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. Doug’s family invites friends and family to join them at the Glencoe Agricultural Hall for a reception following the service. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
