Anna Zwambag

ZwambagIn her 86th year, Anna Hendrica Maria (VanBuren) Zwambag of Glencoe, surrounded by family passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Seasons Retirement Community, Strathroy. Left to mourn her passing, is Henry, her loving and devoted husband of 61 years. Her 9 children, Bill (Mary Anne) Zwambag of Glencoe, Tony Zwambag (late Mareen) of Crediton, Glenda Zwambag of Houston, Texas, Margo (Jim) Cowie of Caledonia, Henry (Nancy Sander) Zwambag of Kitchener, Ed (Valerie) Zwambag of Crossfield, Alberta, Gerald (Anja) Zwambag of Glencoe, Joe (Mary Catherine) Zwambag of Smithville, and Rosanne (George) Ryan of Newmarket who are already missing her. She was so very proud of her 25 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Also survived by her brothers and sister in Holland, Cor (Sjean), Anton (Rinie), Johan (Jozien) and Jopie (Leo) Van Esch. Predeceased by her parents Gerarda van den  Odenrign and Anton Van Buren and brothers, baby Peter, Wim and Pete. Anna was raised on the family farm “De Morgestand” in Schalkwijk, Holland, married Henry in 1953 and immigrated to Canada that same year. They moved to Harrow, Chatham and Mull, Ontario. In 1959 they bought their farm in Glencoe and lived there until 6 months ago when Seasons, Strathroy became their new home. Anna worked hard her entire life and will be remembered for her great sense of humor. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Charles Garnier Church, 244 Stella Ave., Glencoe on Tuesday September 23 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. D. Matthew Bedard officiating. Interment to follow at the North American Martyrs Cemetery, Wardsville. Memorial donations may be made to Myasthenia Gravis Clinic c/o LHSC or St. Charles Church (Building Fund).
