It is with great sadness, that the family of Paul DeBruyne announce his passing on January 11, 2018, at Four Counties Health Services, Newbury after a hard fought battle with cancer. Paul was first and foremost a family man who married the love of his life 49 years ago. He and Linda (nee Mahovlich) had three children; Jennie (Colin), Jeff (Lisa) and Josh. Paul was a devoted father who protected and supported his kids while showing by example how to lead a life of faith, hard work and unconditional love. Paul’s greatest joys were his grandchildren; Katie, Maggie, Tyler and Brady. He shared his other joys like boating and fishing with them often and supported their passions for hockey, piano, skating, swimming and football by being the ever-present fan in the stands. Paul was a loving brother to Marie (Bob Fraser) and a devoted uncle to her children, Kevin, Denise and Paul. He will be missed by their families. He became part of the large and loud Mahovlich family when he married Linda, and will be missed by mother-in-law Stella and his “brothers” and “sisters” Chris, Valerie, Trudy, Vicky and Allan (Fletcher) as well as many nieces and nephews. They will miss his quiet, strong presence.
Paul owned and operated the Glencoe Auto Clinic for 35 years. Along the way, he forged many long-lasting friendships, each of which helped him through every step of his journey. Paul was immensely comforted by the unwavering belief that he would, in death, be reunited with his parents, Fred and Margaret, his son Josh, sister-in-law Lorrie, brother-in-law Wayne, father-in-law Charlie, nephew Edward and niece Rachael. His life will be celebrated at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe on Sunday, January 14, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Charles Garnier Church, 244 Stella Street, Glencoe on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 11 a.m. Rev. D. Matthew Bedard presiding. Interment to follow at the Alvinston Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Four Counties Health Services (palliative care unit) or St. Charles Garnier Church (building fund).
